What are the leadership scores on a diagnostic result?

The leadership scores on a diagnostic result are an objective benchmark to measure business improvement against.

The leadership scores provide an objective benchmark on a diagnostic result. A diagnostic can be repeated, and this score can be tracked overtime to show a demonstrable improvement or decline in development of that function or leader.

Here is an example from a Vision Leadership Curve on the Business diagnostic.

The overall leadership score

The overall leadership score for the result is shown here as 64% and represents the benchmark of clarity & maturity for that function at that moment in time.

The overall leadership score is calculated as the average of the skill and system result.

It is shown as a black triangle on the leadership curve and as a number in the table above the leadership curve.

The skills score

The purpose of the skills score is to show a benchmark on team skills and competencies in contrast to the function's systems, processes, or capabilities.

The skills score in the example above is 60% and is calculated on on the skill based activities assessed on that leadership curve diagnostic.

It is shown as a black circle on the leadership curve.

The skill based activities are always shown on the top of the leadership curve.

The systems score

The purpose of the systems score is to show a benchmark on team or functional systems, processes, and capabilities in contrast to the team's skills within that function.

The systems score in the example above is 68% and is calculated on the system based activities assessed on that leadership curve diagnostic.

It is shown as a black square on the leadership curve.

The system based activities are always shown the bottom of the leadership curve.

The leadership scores provide objective benchmarks in times to measure growth against.

The activity scores

Activities can be skills or systems. An activity scores represent the maturity of a skill or a system on curve. It is measured with a traffic light based on a range of maturity.

In the example above of a Vision Leadership Curve result, 'Problem solving' is a skill, is flagged 'Yellow' as it falls in the 60-80% range of maturity.

The results of an activity score are derived from the inputs of all participants in the diagnostic assessment.

The purpose of the activity score is to highlight strengths and weaknesses. Green represents a a strength, red a weakness.
